Chenin Blanc
Thought to have been established in the Anjou region of France as far back as the 9th century. First referred to as 'Steen' in South Africa, this versatile grape is hard not to love. The cultivar adapts to a number of wine styles and takes on a variety of different tastes. Pronounced characteristics range from yellow fruit to peach and lemon verbena and buttered popcorn through lemon curd to marzipan. South Africa currently houses more than 50% of the Chenin blanc vineyards in the world with the other big producers being France, The US and Argentina.
