The wine displays a pale straw hue with a subtle green tint. Aromas of lime, white pear, and gooseberry are complemented by undertones of passion fruit and lemon thyme. These notes follow through on the palate, joined by fresh flavours of Granny Smith apple, lemongrass, and a touch of nettle. The palate is well-weighted and balanced, with an elegant minerality adding depth. Extended lees contact has been expertly handled, contributing to the wine’s vibrant freshness and textured mouthfeel.

The 2025 vintage was marked by a cool growing season and well-timed winter rainfall. Mild summer temperatures created optimal ripening conditions for Sauvignon Blanc. The absence of heatwaves and the steady maturation period resulted in grapes with vibrant acidity and refined aromatic expression. Grapes underwent six hours of skin contact. Only 100% free-run juice was used. Wine lees were stirred weekly over a period of three months (batonnage) to enhance texture, complexity, and mouthfeel.

Mooiplaas Wine Estate and Private Nature Reserve is situated in the Westward reaches of the Stellenbosch Winelands, approximately 40km east of Cape Town. We are a traditional working wine farm with history stretching back more than two centuries. The Roos Family has been the custodians of this land for three generations. Our vineyards lie on the steep slopes of the ancient mineral-rich soils of the Bottelary Hills, where we produce a range of environmentally friendly wines rooted in tradition and artisan techniques.
