The heritage wines, all handcrafted from old character plantings on our farm in Wellington, celebrate a unique combination of the decomposed granite terroir, the exceptional light and the timeless mastery of the winemaker, and offer an enduring expression of the classic Cape wine tradition so globally envied of this region for centuries.
Description
“From a Certified Heritage Vineyard planted in 1974 on decomposed granite; whole-cluster fermentation and aged in French oak for 12 months. Aromatic and spicy nose of ripe cherry, strawberry and mulberries. The smooth palate is brambly, spicy, crunchy and fresh, with juicy cherry and raspberry fruit – super purity – and a long, crisp blackberrry-laced finish. Only 1,400 bottles produced.” – 93 pts, Tasted by Decanter’s Julie Sheppard at South Africa Old Vines Tasting, April 2026
Food Pairing
Serve with game dishes, springbok carpaccio, grilled and barbecue cuts. Pairs exceptionally well with seared tuna, poultry and ostrich. Also compliments ossobuco, lamb stews and slow-cooked rich meat dishes. A great companion to a cheese board and bold enough to handle blue vein and matured cheese. Serve slightly chilled at 18°C.
