Heritage Heroes The Anchor Man Old Vine Chenin Blanc

A versatile match for a range of dishes, from fresh, summery fare like a classic chicken Caesar salad or lemon-infused chicken pasta with capers, to comforting favourites such as baked casseroles, seafood pie, or simply grilled line fish.

The Chenin blanc fruit for this wine came from a single bushvine vineyard in the Swartland, planted in 1983 in an east-to-west row direction on a north-facing slope. These heritage vines are certified by South Africa’s esteemed Old Vine Project (OVP).

These two components were kept on the lees for seven months prior to final blending, stabilisation and bottling.

Grapes, hand-harvested in February at 23° Balling, were received at the cellar in whole bunches. The juice was clarified, then vinified using two distinct techniques. A portion of fruit was fermented in first-, second- and third-fill 300- and 500-litre barrels, and the second component in amphorae (clay pots).

Our winemaking legacy spans over two centuries with an immersive collection of award-winning wines from some of the Cape's most storied vineyards. Nederburg’s core range of varietal and blended wines is an expression of its proud legacy of winemaking excellence, dating back to 1791. These classically styled, foodfriendly wines with abundant fruit flavours, elegance and finesse, treasure the integrity of the grapes in every step of the wine-growing and winemaking journey. Every drop demonstrates an unwavering commitment to world-class vineyard and cellar skills.
