A grape by two names. This varietal is the product of the cross between Dureza and Mondeuse Blanche from Southeastern France. The flavour profiles expressed in Shiraz wines are influenced, as with many varietals, by climate. Shiraz grown in moderate climates tends to be fuller- bodied with medium to high levels of tannin and notes of blackberry, mint and black pepper. In hotter climates Shiraz is more consistent with softer tannin, jammier fruit and spice such as licorice, anise and leather.
