Critic & score
Cinsault
Considered as being both heat tolerant and productive, this black grape thrives in dry climates. Classically blended with varieties such as Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Cinsault often produces wines which are light in colour and low in tannin but with soft perfumes that are particularly suited to rosés and early- drinking reds. In South Africa this cultivar was originally referred to as Hermitage and became well known as one of the varietals cross-bred with Pinot noir to produce Pinotage.
