The 2024 Brookdale Estate Bradbourne White Blend opens with lifted florals of jasmine and frangipani, evoking the scent of white blooms on a summer night. The aromatic complexity evolves into notes of peaches and cream, honeyed peach, and quince, interwoven with the softness of straw and refreshed by crushed lime-leaf brightness. On the palate, the wine is layered and lithe, showcasing vivid white grapefruit and white citrus enveloping a deep core of stone fruit. The acidity provides a silver-toned electricity, balancing the concentration of fruit. A lime wash reappears at the finish, leaving behind a faint grip of pithy fruit-tannin that extends the length and refreshes the palate.

The grapes were picked at different stages during harvest. After pre-cooling, they were whole-bunch pressed before undergoing spontaneous fermentation. The wine was barrel fermented and aged in old 225L and 500L French oak barrels. A 30% portion of the Grenache Blanc was whole-bunch fermented and spent 14 days on stems to enhance texture and complexity. All components underwent 100% malolactic fermentation. The wines were aged for 12 months in barrel prior to blending and bottling, followed by 4 months in bottle before release.

The grapes for this blend were sourced from vineyards in Paarl, South Africa. The 2024 growing season was marked by a highly wet and cold winter and spring, leading to flooding and infrastructure damage. With the arrival of summer, conditions shifted to very dry and windy, impacting crop size. January's hot weather advanced the harvest. These climatic variations resulted in significant differences between farms, cultivars, and yields.
