Our vineyards are situated in diverse climatic zones in and around the prime Paarl region, including the warmer Paardeberg and cooler coastal areas of Philadelphia and Klein Drakenstein. Vineyards are predominantly on northern slopes, resulting in a fruit-driven wine. The grapes ripened at different times, illustrating the temperature diversity between the three climatic zones.

The grapes were harvested at an ideal ripeness of approximately 25 to 26 degrees Balling, followed by destemming and cold-soaking for 24 hours. Fermentation started after commercial yeast was added and lasted for fourteen days. The wine then went through malolactic fermentation in steel tanks and second-fill barrels, ensuring a softening of the phenolic compounds and resulting in an elegant smoothness on the palate.

Since 1941, collaboration has been at the heart of Boland Cellar. Our award-winning wines are the result of working closely with growers, employees, suppliers, talented winemakers, customers, consumers, and nature itself. We strive to honour our region by producing wines of excellence, building on a proud heritage as regional specialists with international acclaim. Our passion goes beyond winemaking. By championing ethical practices and sustainable brands, we aim to make a positive impact on our ecosystem and community. Great wine is never the product of one element alone. Soil, climate, and nature’s changing forces all play their part. At Boland Cellar, we extend this natural collaboration by working with farmers and growers across diverse terroirs; bringing the story of each vine to your glass.
