Malbec

Malbec seems to be endemic to Argentina but you may be surprised to find out that the grape actually has its origins in France. Mendoza became the cultivars so-called home from home after a French botanist first planted it as a nostalgic tribute. This wine is most known for plump, dark fruit flavours of black cherry, raspberry, plum and blackberry finishing with a smoky flourish although French Malbec tends to be leathery and savoury in comparison and is generally known to be better suited to ageing.
