Heritage Heroes Anchorman Chenin Blanc

This Chenin Blanc pairs excellently with lighter summery dishes such as chicken Caesar salad, lemony chicken pasta with capers, baked dishes, seafood pie, or grilled line fish.

The Chenin Blanc fruit for this wine was sourced from a single bushvine vineyard in the Swartland, planted in 1983 on a north-facing slope with an east-to-west row orientation. These heritage vines are certified by South Africa’s esteemed Old Vine Project (OVP).

The wine underwent maturation on the lees for seven months in a combination of oak barrels, stainless steel tanks, and amphorae, enhancing its complexity and mouthfeel.

Grapes were hand-harvested in February at 23° Balling and received at the cellar in whole bunches. The juice was clarified and then vinified using three distinct techniques: fermentation in first-, second-, and third-fill 300- and 500-litre barrels; fermentation in stainless-steel tanks; and fermentation in amphorae (clay pots). The various components were kept on the lees for seven months prior to final blending, stabilization, and bottling.
