Iron Rondomskrik Chenin Blanc

As with all our cuvées, this wine received meticulous care and gentle handling in the cellar. Both primary and secondary fermentations occurred spontaneously using indigenous yeasts. After natural settling, the wine received only a minimal sulphur addition. It then matured for just under a year French oak barrels.

Planted in deep, iron-rich Koffieklip soils on the rolling hills outside Malmesbury, this bush-vine vineyard is consistently our first Chenin Blanc of the season and we farm this single vineyard exclusively for the IRON Chenin Blanc. It benefits from a growing season of cool nights and mild, windy days that promote slow, even ripening. This microclimate yields small, concentrated berries with well-preserved structure and acidity. The final wine mirrors its precise vineyard management and terroir, offering high natural extract, firm acidity and a distinctive, balanced, round and textural mouthfeel. The grapes were hand-harvested on 6th February 2025 with a yield of 4 tons/ha, which translated to 24HL/ha.

This wine was matured for 11 months in 225L French oak barrels.
