Granite Eikelaan Chenin Blanc

The fruit was hand-picked during the cool early morning hours and whole-bunch pressed straight into barrels. The juice underwent oxidative handling to enhance the bottled wine's aging potential. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations occurred naturally without intervention. Following a minimal initial sulfur dioxide addition, no other additives were introduced. The wine aged on its lees in-barrel until spring, when it was racked, blended and bottled just prior to the 2026 harvest.

Our GRANITE Chenin Blanc vineyard, a high-altitude site in the Swartland's Paardeberg region, features decomposed granite soils and dry-land bush-vines. The deep-rooted vineyard thrives without irrigation in this terroir, while the expansive bush vine canopies shade the grapes to lower temperatures in the fruiting zone and retain natural acidity. This high-elevation site and its mature vines produce a finely structured, fresh wine with delicate aromas. Harvesting took place on 14 February 2025, yielding 4 tons per hectare, equivalent to 24 HL/ha.

This wine was matured for 11 months in 225L French oak barrels.
