Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc’s liveliness makes it an excellent food partner. Friendly, inviting and accessible, it pairs wonderfully well with red meat dishes, roasted lamb cutlets and greens or a lemon and herd chicken with mielie pap and smoor. The hint of spice will also pair beautifully with dark chocolate desserts.

Moderate winter conditions with limited rainfall led to an excellent foundation resulting in even budbreak. Calm winds during season lead to good fruit set and lush canopies. The 2023 harvest was characterised by excessive rainfall and higher humidity levels. White and red cultivars ripened simultaneously and resulted in a challenging harvest. However, picking of the grapes at their ideal ripening stage contributed to great primary aromas and development of berries to produce outstanding quality.

The wine is matured for 14 months in seasoned 300L French oak barrels.

Hand-picked, de-stemmed, and carefully sorted into tank, the grapes undergo gentle fermentation before being transferred to barrel.
