Grapes were hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks over several days with frequent pump-overs. At around 8 degrees balling, the skins were removed and the wine was pressed and racked back to tank for completion of alcoholic and malolactic fermentation.

Dry-farmed vineyards tend to produce smaller berries, and lower yields this year made for looser bunches. Red wines from this vintage have abundant aromas and nice dark colours. The tannins were well managed during harvest and will continue to develop well in the bottle. The vineyards are located in the Agter-Paarl region of the Western Cape. The hardy bush-vines are planted in Malmesbury Shale soil, and produce bright fruit flavours, minerality, and soft tannins.

25% of the wine was barrel-matured in American oak (10% new) for 12 months. Fined and filtered before bottling.
