Bodega Catena Zapata
We at Catena Zapata are dedicated to unlocking the secrets of our land to bring Mendoza’s wines to the rest of the world. In 1902, Nicolás’s grandfather Nicola Catena planted his first Malbec vineyard in Mendoza. Today, the wines of Bodega Catena Zapata are sourced from six historic estate vineyards: Angélica, La Pirámide, Nicasia, Domingo, Adrianna and Angélica Sur. We have poured our lives, our passion, our sweat, and our spirit into transforming a scrub-laden, high-altitude oasis in a desert into some of the most beautiful vineyards in the world. This is the story of how we blended family and historic vines with state-of-the-art viticulture to create wines that are both spectacular and true to their terroir. It is a tale that travels from 19th-century Italy to the limestone soils of Mendoza, with serendipitous detours to California's sun-drenched Napa Valley and the king-making vineyards of Bordeaux. Drawing from the past and uncovering the secrets of nature toward the future, we are proud to make our treasured terroir in Mendoza the fountainhead for the wines that carry our name.
Description
Catena Malbec presents a deep violet color with purple reflections. This microclimate blend of four unique vineyards offers intense aromas, soft texture, and concentrated flavor. Deep aromas of ripe red and dark fruits are joined by delicate violet and lavender notes, with traces of vanilla and mocha. A rich, concentrated mouthfeel is highlighted by flavors of blueberries and blackberries with a touch of leather and cinnamon. The wine has well-integrated tannins, bright acidity, and a flinty minerality that provides exceptional length to the finish.
Food Pairing
Pair with roast turkey, grilled steak, salmon, and pasta with red sauce.
