Bodega Catena Zapata
We at Catena Zapata are dedicated to unlocking the secrets of our land to bring Mendoza’s wines to the rest of the world. In 1902, Nicolás’s grandfather Nicola Catena planted his first Malbec vineyard in Mendoza. Today, the wines of Bodega Catena Zapata are sourced from six historic estate vineyards: Angélica, La Pirámide, Nicasia, Domingo, Adrianna and Angélica Sur. We have poured our lives, our passion, our sweat, and our spirit into transforming a scrub-laden, high-altitude oasis in a desert into some of the most beautiful vineyards in the world. This is the story of how we blended family and historic vines with state-of-the-art viticulture to create wines that are both spectacular and true to their terroir. It is a tale that travels from 19th-century Italy to the limestone soils of Mendoza, with serendipitous detours to California's sun-drenched Napa Valley and the king-making vineyards of Bordeaux. Drawing from the past and uncovering the secrets of nature toward the future, we are proud to make our treasured terroir in Mendoza the fountainhead for the wines that carry our name.
Description
The 2023 Catena Chardonnay presents an intense greenish-yellow hue. Aromas include ripe pineapple and banana, complemented by white stone fruits and subtle sweet spices. The palate is full yet clean, with fresh, crisp acidity and a touch of minerality.
Food Pairing
This Chardonnay pairs well with roasted stuffed chicken, seared scallops, pasta primavera, and fish and chips.
