Old Vine Reserve Chenin

It pairs wonderfully with spicy dishes, full-flavored fish, chicken, crayfish, and prawns, making it a versatile wine for rich or aromatic cuisine​.

The grapes are sourced from mature, unirrigated vineyards in Stellenbosch’s Helderberg region. These old bush vines are rooted in Clovelly soils (deep yellow sand) and are situated in a south-southwest-facing locality. This terroir contributes to the wine’s depth of flavor and structure​.

The wine is fermented in both barrels and tanks, followed by maturation on the lees for 8 months in French oak barrels (20% new). This method adds complexity and a rounded mouthfeel​.

In 1993 hospitality industry veteran Ken Forrester and his wife Teresa purchased the historic Scholtzenhof estate nestled at the base of the Helderberg in Stellenbosch. Originally established in 1689 as Zandberg the property is one of the oldest wine farms in the Cape. Ken enlisted the help of his winemaker friend Martin Meinert in replanting and revitalizing the vineyards with an aim to craft a white wine that could rival any in the world! And so it was that Ken Forrester Vineyards was established with a focus on Chenin Blanc production.
