Kaapzicht
Kaapzicht is a fourth-generation Stellenbosch family estate based in the Bottelary Hills. With a strong focus on Chenin Blanc and Pinotage, the Steytler family produces a range of South African wines that showcase old-vine fruit, Bottelary character and a long-standing commitment to family winemaking.
Description
“Meaning 'Cape View', the Kaapzicht vineyards in the Bottelary Hills look out towards Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula. These dry-farmed Chenin bush vines were planted in 1982 on granite soils; the wine was fermented and matured in oak. Golden pineapple and peach aromas, with hints of vanilla and ripe pear. More ripe and concentrated fruit on the textured palate – pear, custard apple and pineapple – with notes of lemon curd and grapefruit pith, all underlined with crisp acidity. Super persistence on the finish, which unfurls with fresh citrus, green apple and a gentle toastiness into a lipsmacking conclusion.” – 93 pts, Tasted by Decanter’s Julie Sheppard at South Africa Old Vines Tasting, April 2026
