Semillon

Rich fish (salmon, tuna etc), Shellfish, Sweet desserts, Poultry

Being a relatively old vine (22 years to be precise), and grown on sandy soil that has required its roots to go deep and its growth to be less vigorous (producing smaller, more concentrated bunches of fruit), Uitsig’s Semillon provides a wonderful viscosity on the palate.

After fermentation, regular batonnage were carried out to add complexity during the seven-month aging process.

Second and third fill 600 liter French oak barrels were used for fermentation.

Constantia Uitsig is a historic Constantia wine estate focused on a small, considered range of South African wines. Rooted in one of the Cape’s oldest wine regions, the estate produces wines shaped by cool coastal influence, classic varieties and a clear sense of place.
