The Semillon grapes are grown on Constantia Uitsig, with a Mediterranean climate with cool sea breezes from False Bay during the growing season. Soils are alluvial decomposed granite from the slopes of Table Mountain. The soils are deep, well drained, and have a high reflection rate. Our Semillon Blocks were planted in 2010 and 2014.

The wine matured for 9 months in barrel and Concrete tanks before final blending and bottling.

Grapes were hand harvested in different ripening stages, crushed, destemmed, and left on the skins overnight for maximum thiol extraction. Natural fermentation took place in French oak barrels (55%) of which 7% was new and in Nico Velo Concrete tanks (45%) for Freshness and Minerality.

Constantia Uitsig is a historic Constantia wine estate focused on a small, considered range of South African wines. Rooted in one of the Cape’s oldest wine regions, the estate produces wines shaped by cool coastal influence, classic varieties and a clear sense of place.
