Alvi's Drift Winery

With a deep ruby hue, this medium-bodied red wine offers complex aromas of mulberry, white pepper, plum, and violet, with a subtle touch of herbs. Layers of fruit and floral notes, along with a hint of spice, are complemented by a smooth, velvety texture and well-balanced acidity. The result is a well-rounded, elegant wine with exceptional structure and a satisfying, lingering finish.

Created entirely from estate-grown grapes, each variety in this blended wine is vinified separately. Thirty percent of the varieties are wild yeast fermented in a combination of American and French oak barrels for 12 months, while others are fermented in stainless steel tanks to showcase the very best, optimally ripe fruit characters of each varietal. Only the best tanks and highest-quality oak barrels were carefully selected by our tasting panel to create this memorable, elegant-yet-approachable wine.

With an ideal Mediterranean microclimate, an abundance of soil diversity, and water from the life-giving Breede River, the Alvi’s Drift vineyards are ideally positioned for producing remarkable wines of unique character and complexity. Our vineyards are sustainably fertilised with natural compost produced on our farm. Come harvest time, our grapes are carefully hand-harvested from selected vineyards in the cool, early morning hours to ensure optimal quality and flavour.

Alvi’s Drift is a third-generation, family-owned winery in South Africa’s Breede River Valley. Named after the bridge connecting the farm, our 410-hectare estate lies in the cool-climate Scherpenheuvel ward, where diverse soils shape our award-winning wines. From crisp whites to elegant reds, MCCs, and sparkling wines, each bottle reflects a love for craft and terroir.
