Reserve Syrah

Enjoy with rich pasta, mushroom risotto and subtle red meat dishes.

Harvested from the lovely vineyards of Elim on soils varying from shale, gravel and Ferricrete also known as Koffieklip, minimal intervention throughout the winemaking process created a beautiful medium-bodied red. The 2019 Syrah is a great example of cool-climate Syrah and a great counterpoint to the more commonly found warm-climate Syrah in South Africa.

The wine then spent 11 months in new and older French oak and was bottled in December 2019. The wine was made in a natural way, with only sulphur additions

After de-stemming the wine fermented naturally in open-top fermenters and benefitted from daily punch-downs.

Trizanne Signature Wines was founded by winemaker Trizanne Barnard in 2008, with a focus on sourcing distinctive vineyard parcels from two contrasting South African regions. Cool-climate Elim provides Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon with freshness and definition, while the warm, dry Swartland is the source of her more concentrated reds. The range reflects a winemaking philosophy built around site, variety and the different perspectives each region can offer.
