Close Ties Elgin Chardonnay

A beautifully balanced wine that pairs effortlessly with a wide range of seafood dishes.

Chardonnay grapes from Elgin planted in Bokkeveld shale using Guyot trellising.

1000L aged in new 1000L foudre and the rest was a third fill foudre. On gross lees until racked for bottling.

Fermented spontaneously and underwent 100% MLF with regular batonage for the first month.

Katja Leinberger and Marcel Hartman have a background in aesthetics, wine and hospitality. The love for beautiful wine comes naturally in such an environment. Our contacts with farms and winemakers made it possible to make our dream of having our wine a reality. The wines that bear the Bothey name are all premium wines that we are happy to drink ourselves every day. They show their true heritage and terroir by making them with minimal intervention. We are very fortunate to work with some of the top winemakers of South Africa.
