The style of Lievland Vineyards Heart's Ease Syrah is decidedly Stellenbosch: elegant and balanced with a light pepperiness and beam of fruit purity. Colour: Purple core with crimson edges. Aroma: Black cherry, damson plum, white pepper and cumin. Palate: Red fruits and pepper spices. Body: Taut palate, refined tannins and a lingering finish.

A warm and very dry growing season Topography of the landscape offered cooling south-easterly winds. Yields were marginally lower but the small bunches and berries were well-balanced with a pure concentration of fruit flavours. Lievland Vineyards is ideally situated along the Simonsberg Mountains - a prime growing area within Stellenbosch. The wine is made from higher elevation blocks on the estate which were planted in the early 2000s. Soils are complex with Clovelly, Oakleaf, Klapmuts and Sterkspruit components.

Lievland

Lievland’s history dates back to 1715, when the original farm was granted to the ex-soldier Jurie Hanekom. Lievland lies on the western slopes of the Simonsberg mountains between Stellenbosch and Paarl, two of the most prominent wine-growing areas in the Cape. The climate, location, and soil on the slopes are conducive to the cultivation of high-quality grapes, and some of the Cape’s best-known wines are made here. Lievland is all about "the here and now", and their wines are made in a generous fruit-forward, well-extracted style.
