Lievland
Lievland’s history dates back to 1715, when the original farm was granted to the ex-soldier Jurie Hanekom. Lievland lies on the western slopes of the Simonsberg mountains between Stellenbosch and Paarl, two of the most prominent wine-growing areas in the Cape. The climate, location, and soil on the slopes are conducive to the cultivation of high-quality grapes, and some of the Cape’s best-known wines are made here. Lievland is all about "the here and now", and their wines are made in a generous fruit-forward, well-extracted style.
Description
Made in an elegant modern style, this Pinotage shows vibrant notes of cherry and raspberry, with a hint of cedar and vanilla from the oak ageing. The palate has rich red fruit and the savouriness typical of the variety. 8% Grenache adds vibrants and complexity. 4% dry-farmed Syrah gives an elegant and fine tannin. A small (3%) bit of old-vine Cinsault has been blended in to enhance the aromas and add freshness to the palate.
Food Pairing
The wine can be enjoyed with traditional South African dishes such as roasted Karoo lamb or springbok pie or even served slightly chilled with Cape Malay curried fish.
