After maturation in a small percentage 1st fill, but mainly 2nd and 3rd fill French 225L oak barrels for 9 months the wine is given a light filtration and bottled.

In keeping with previous vintages, the juice was fermented at between 13-15°C in tank for the first day. After the first day, the juice is then transferred to barrel to complete the fermentation in barrel.

Idiom is a celebration of wine and words. The award-winning range of premium wines stems from the Bottega family’s Da Capo Vineyards, which are located in the southernmost part of the Stellenbosch wine region, near Sir Lowry's Pass, overlooking False Bay. The range consists of big, bold blends of noble varietals and single cultivar renditions of Italian and Mediterranean grape varietals, all uniquely expressed in a Cape idiom.
