This is a wine which for the first time ever, reflects the different personalities of the 3 Hemel-en-Aarde appellations in a single blend. The elegant, softer, more open red fruit profile of the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde, combines with the lifted, darker blue fruit of the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge to create unusually complex aromas, while the more muscular, structured, dark spice and tension of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley adds an additional layer of complexity to the wine. This is a wine of great personality and interest.

This wine from mostly purchased grapes cannot be a Hamilton Russell Vineyards Pinot noir, because Vineyards refers to our 52 hectare, clay and iron-rich “monopole”. It will simply be Hamilton Russell Pinot noir and carry the Walker Bay appellation. A first for us and hopefully a last. Force Majeure dictated. We have taken the added precaution of marking the wine’s capsule with “Walker Bay” incase customers miss the statement of appellation on the label.
