Du Toitskloof Wines
Iconic moments happen around tables. Over the past few decades, Du Toitskloof has earned and enjoyed a profound place at South African tables. Du Toitskloof Wines sources the majority of their grapes for their ranges from the Breedekloof valley, all within a 10km radius of the cellar. This sees to it that all the grapes share similar soil types and micro-climates. With a large array of different terroirs, the cellar makes wine with grapes that have grown along cool mountain slopes, in alluvial soils with high water-retention capabilities as well as sandy and rocky soils.
Description
Dark ruby in colour, this wine offers aromas of ripe plums, cherries, chocolate and a slight scent of dried banana, all wrapped in sweet, oaky vanilla. Dry, supple tannins add to a silky mouth-feel of black cherries.
Food Pairing
Scrape more coals under the venison potjie and say cheers to the country’s most sociable red. Pinotage seeks out the local food first - salty biltong, the patriotic trio pap, wors and sheba, gently curried lamb sosaties or robust farm house bean soup. It also shouts Vrystaat! at pens and potjies, a delicacy favoured by afval aficionados.
