Sauvignon Blanc

Ideal alongside seafood (such as oysters, prawns, or grilled fish), fresh salads, goat cheese, light vegetarian dishes, or crisp sushi rolls. Its vibrant acidity and bright flavors complement spring and summer fare beautifully.

Fruit is grown on two contrasting slopes in Constantia: – West-facing on rich soils for ripe, tropical character and citrus backbone. – East-facing on decomposed granite and clay for lean elegance and minerality. The 2023 winter was exceptionally long (March to November), followed by a windy ripening season that maintained cool vines—resulting in vibrant and fresh fruit.

Though not explicitly stated, barrel ageing for the Semillon component (on the East slope) softens the blend and adds texture. Likely stainless steel for Sauvignon Blanc, plus partial oak inclusion. Intended for consumption within 1–3 years post-bottling (i.e., through 2026).

Harvested in November 2023 and hand-sorted. Fermentation completed primarily in neutral vessels, with a portion matured in barrel (presumed neutral oak from your description). Bottled November 2023.

Constantia Royale is a limited production Sauvignon Blanc made from grapes grown on the 17 hectare, family-owned farm of Nova Zonnestraal in the beautiful Constantia Valley. It is said that Sauvignon Blanc vines should be able to see the ocean. With this in mind, the vineyards at Nova Zonnestraal were planted with a good view of Cape Hangklip from the western slope and False Bay from the eastern.
