Château Margaux
Chateau Margaux a Premier Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux is one of the most famous wines in the world. Care has been lavished on the property by a line of owners with an abiding concern for the reputation of the estate. For more than five hundred years season after season generations of vineyard-workers grapeharvesters cellar-workers coopers and many other craftsmen have all played a part in making Chateau Margaux what it is today: a wine with an incomparable personality reflected in the elegant Palladian building which adorns its label. In 1977 the estate was purchased by the late André Mentzelopoulos and it is now run by his daughter Corinne Mentzelopoulos.
Description
The selection of a third wine, begun in 1997, was continued in 1998. It has now become a systematic reflex. This operation, which demonstrates our growing concern for rigour, as much for the second wine as for the first, enabled us to make a Pavillon Rouge 1998 of astonishing concentration, undoubtedly the most powerful ever, with the 2000 and 2003. The Pavillon Rouge 1998 possesses all the qualities of its vintage: an intense fruit, a great length on the palate and of course great potential for improving with age.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with almost any grilled, braised or roasted meat ranging from beef, veal, pork, duck, pigeon, squab and game.
