Grand Vin

This Grand Vin pairs exquisitely with classic French cuisine such as roast lamb, beef Wellington, venison, duck breast with cherry reduction, and aged Comté or Gruyère cheeses.

The grapes were grown on Château Margaux’s historic estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France. The warm 2018 growing season led to small berries and relatively low yields, concentrating flavors and tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon thrived in these conditions, forming the backbone of the Grand Vin.

Aged in French oak barrels (details not specified by the producer), following Château Margaux’s classic ageing regime. The structure and balance of this vintage suggest optimal drinking from around 2028, with potential to develop gracefully for 20 to 30 years from vintage.

Recognizing the exceptional tannic potential of the 2018 fruit, extraction was carefully moderated throughout fermentation. Each variety was vinified separately in traditional vats with close monitoring to preserve elegance. After blending, the wine was matured in French oak barrels, typical of the estate’s Grand Vin production, though specific barrel details were not disclosed.

Chateau Margaux a Premier Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux is one of the most famous wines in the world. Care has been lavished on the property by a line of owners with an abiding concern for the reputation of the estate.
