Merlot Shiraz

This wine pairs excellently with rich meaty dishes, BBQ with sweet sauces, or vegetarian stews. It's also a great match for herb-infused sauces and hearty hamburgers​.

The vineyards are located in the Cederberg mountains at an altitude of over 1,000 meters, benefiting from cool continental climate conditions. The vines are planted in Glenrosa, sandstone, slate, and Hutton soils. Both Merlot (18 years old) and Shiraz (16 years old) grapes are harvested separately to preserve the distinct characteristics of each.

12 months in French oak barrels​.

The wine is made by fermenting the Merlot and Shiraz separately, with cold soaking for two days and regular pump-overs during fermentation. After malolactic fermentation in tanks, the wine is aged in 225L French oak barrels (60% third fill and 40% fourth fill) for 12 months, enhancing its complexity​.

Cederberg is a high-altitude wine estate in the remote Cederberg Wilderness Area, owned by the Nieuwoudt family for generations. With vineyards surrounded by rugged mountain terrain, the estate is known for Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and other South African wines shaped by altitude, isolation and dramatic growing conditions.
