Cederberg
Cederberg is a high-altitude wine estate in the remote Cederberg Wilderness Area, owned by the Nieuwoudt family for generations. With vineyards surrounded by rugged mountain terrain, the estate is known for Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and other South African wines shaped by altitude, isolation and dramatic growing conditions.
Description
"The colour displays a remarkable ruby garnet hue, less intense than previous vintages. The complex nose delivers plums, mulberries, white pepper, spices, and aromatic pink peppercorns. The palate reveals an elegant wine, savoury and linear with black fruit pastilles, gentle acidity and soft tannins. This stylistic change to Teen die Hoog makes for a refined wine, where intensity has given way to elegance and linearity with the boldness of previous vintages harnessed into a modern style of this exceptional Shiraz. The palate is immediately accessible, but this wine will reward those with patience." Sandy Harper CWM
Food Pairing
This refined wine with its broad Shiraz appeal, made from the tiniest berries high up in this vineyard, pairs with a wide range of flavours and can even cope with some gentle spiciness. This Shiraz pairs equally as well with grilled game fish such as tuna as it does with slow-roasted, succulent lamb shoulder. The acidity of the wine gently manages the richness of the dishes.
