Sandpoort Sauvignon Gris

The 2025 Sauvignon Gris with its vibrancy and textural finesse will pair perfectly with clean, lightly aromatic or creamy dishes. Beautiful with grilled line fish with a drizzle of olive oil and herbs or slightly more fragrant steamed mussels with garlic, white wine and parsley. For a fresh take on burrata, replace the customary tomatoes with grilled nectarines for a taste sensation. The flavours in the fruit will make the Sauvignon Gris sing.

Once fermentation is completed, the wine is matured in 4th fill tight-grain barrels with a medium toast for up to 10 months with a monthly bâtonnage of the lees. No malolactic fermentation takes place. Only five barrels of this wine are produced, and minimal fining and filtration are used.

Grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning at 24 °B. The grapes are then whole-bunch pressed, followed by one day of settling, before being transferred into 400l French oak barrels. Natural fermentation takes place over the next 40 to 60 days at 13 °C.

Cederberg is a high-altitude wine estate in the remote Cederberg Wilderness Area, owned by the Nieuwoudt family for generations. With vineyards surrounded by rugged mountain terrain, the estate is known for Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and other South African wines shaped by altitude, isolation and dramatic growing conditions.
