Sandpoort Sauvignon Gris remains South Africa’s first certified Sauvignon Gris, with just three barrels produced in 2023. Sandy Harper CWM describes the Cederberg version as “anything but demure” - a vibrant, expressive wine with Sauvignon Blanc aromatics, greater texture and “a fine line of nervous energy” running through the palate.

Cederberg

Cederberg is a high-altitude wine estate in the remote Cederberg Wilderness Area, owned by the Nieuwoudt family for generations. With vineyards surrounded by rugged mountain terrain, the estate is known for Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and other South African wines shaped by altitude, isolation and dramatic growing conditions.

Food Pairing

The 2025 Sauvignon Gris with its vibrancy and textural finesse will pair perfectly with clean, lightly aromatic or creamy dishes. Beautiful with grilled line fish with a drizzle of olive oil and herbs or slightly more fragrant steamed mussels with garlic, white wine and parsley. For a fresh take on burrata, replace the customary tomatoes with grilled nectarines for a taste sensation. The flavours in the fruit will make the Sauvignon Gris sing.
