Cederberg
Cederberg is a high-altitude wine estate in the remote Cederberg Wilderness Area, owned by the Nieuwoudt family for generations. With vineyards surrounded by rugged mountain terrain, the estate is known for Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and other South African wines shaped by altitude, isolation and dramatic growing conditions.
Description
This wine is all about refinement, purity and intensity of fruit – both in its colour and on the nose – with dark brooding black fruit, cassis and soft black pastels, and only the faintest hint of cedar. On the palate, the fruit keeps dancing, changing pace, allowing the delicate acidity and feather-light tannins to ease the wine from start to finish. This wine will benefit from a few years of ageing before consumption to show off its true beauty. If you simply can’t wait, we recommend decanting the wine before serving.
Food Pairing
This Cabernet Sauvignon is very food friendly due to the silky tannins, so go ahead and pair it with slow-roasted lamb knuckles with rosemary, rare roast beef or rump steak on the grill. It will also be delightful accompanying grilled game fish such as tuna or marlin with grilled shiitake or porcini mushrooms, or alongside a winter favourite – hearty lentil and smoked paprika casserole.
