Adara Palmiet Valley
Top rated wines created by Niel Bester We are privileged to have Niel Bester, one of the most renowned winemakers in South Africa, oversee our wine production. His 2024 Chenin Blanc was awarded 4.5 stars in the Platter’s Wine Guide 2025, the first wine we had tested. Our Adara wine collection encompasses a complete and intriguing portfolio of six different wines: a superb sparkling wine (MCC Brut), a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, our flagship Chenin Blanc and a variety of red wines, all of which have been rated 90 points or higher. The vineyards Located in the Drakenstein Valley, Adara Palmiet Valley is nestled in the shadow of the Du Toitskloof Mountains, just a few kilometres from the historic town of Paarl. Sandy clay marshland provides the soil for the vineyards along the banks of the Berg River. The nearby mountains help generate heavy rainfall during the winter months, and the mountain tops are often covered in a blanket of snow. Shade in the early mornings slows the ripening process down to a gentle pace and a south-easterly breeze has a cooling effect on the grapes in the afternoons. These are all key contributing factors in the superior quality of our grapes, ensuring excellent ageing potential. The grapes are picked by hand and brought to the cellar, where they are cooled overnight, then de-stemmed, sorted by hand and pressed. This highly complex process is clearly reflected in the particularly smooth and well balanced aromas characteristic of our wines.
