Johan Venter didn’t start as an inventor but as a scientist, a highly structured and controlled thinker. A researcher who may have started his career with wine, but in the end, it was spirits that captured his imagination. He went on to become one of the most awarded and respected spirit masters in the world and developed some of South Africa’s most prestigious, iconic, and most loved brands. Hand-selected from three trees at the base of the Cederberg mountains outside Citrusdal, pamplemousse is the hero of this dry-style gin. The white flesh of the Pamplemousse offers a balance of sweetness and tartness, with much less bitterness than we expect from its well-known cousin, the grapefruit. The gin was masterfully distilled in a small copper pot still to create the perfect balance of exotic citrus and traditional Juniper. It can be enjoyed neat or accompanied by a premium tonic.
