The nose is vibrant and expressive, revealing layered aromas of citrus blossom, ripe pineapple, quince, and stone fruit, delicately complemented by subtle notes of honey and brioche derived from extended lees ageing. Gentle oak influence from a portion fermented in older barrels adds understated warmth and depth while preserving the wine’s freshness and varietal integrity. On the palate, the wine is delivered with remarkable freshness and intensity, showcasing a dense yet elegant core of tangy peach, baked apple, quince, and preserved citrus. Creamy textures from six months on the lees, combined with frequent bâtonnage, contribute richness and roundness, while maintaining lively balance and precision. Nuances of soft brie rind, toasted almond, and subtle savoury complexity add further depth and sophistication. The finish is long, layered, and beautifully composed, lingering with notes of citrus zest, ripe orchard fruit, and textured lees character. A refined and terroir-driven Chenin Blanc that captures both purity and elegance while remaining true to its sustainably crafted philosophy.

Zoetendal

The Zoetendal story starts with sunken ships and drunken sailors – a dramatic debut! – but leads to lost survivors finding their kith and kin at the Cape, through the kindness of the local Khoikhoi. There’s the same warmth and welcome in our wines, but there’s courage and resilience too – Elim vines are grown at their limit, in the koffieklip (coffee stone) and quartzite at the southern-most tip of Africa.
