Early Mist Riesling

Cold smoked salmon or trout pairs well with the wine, but it especially goes well with spicy dishes — the slightly higher sugar content balancing the opposite out.

Hand picked at different sugar levels, our Riesling was transported from the cool climate to Vrede en Lust in 500 kg bins. The grapes were pressed and fermentation, happening at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks, was monitored daily. As soon as the wine reached the desired sugar levels, fermentation was stopped; resulting in an elegant, off-dry style wine.

Vrede en Lust is nestled at the foothills of the Simonsberg in South Africa’s most celebrated Franschhoek wine valley. The history of the farm dates back to 1688 and discloses a story of vision, passion and pride. Vrede en Lust is a family owned and managed wine estate.
