The Torres family has been related to wine since the 17th century when their ancestors first planted vines in the Penedès a winegrowing region dating to the days of the Phoenicians. Founded in 1870 Bodegas Torres has preserved family ownership of the company while diligently combining tradition and innovation. For five generations Torres has been a leader in the Spanish wine industry with properties in the top regions including Catalunya Penedès Priorat Conca de Barberà Ribera del Duero Rioja Rueda Campo de Borja Rias Biaxas Costers del Segre Jumilla and Toro. The family’s dedication to wine quality and producing wines that reflect their origins has been recognized by leading media outlets throughout the world. Cabernet Sauvignon Mas La Plana 2017

Cabernet Sauvignon from Penedès, Spain

Bottle size:

Deep, dense cherry colour, with a touch of mahogany. Fragrant and enticing on the nose, with spices and blackcurrant as well as complex hints of cranberries, cherries and truffles and an incense-like quality developed during ageing in wood. On the palate it is svelte, polished, focused and harmonious, with plum, cassis, liquorice, tobacco and mineral notes that mingle gracefully over well-integrated tannins. Great texture and structural depth as well as refinement. This wine marries density and freshness, presenting a long, plush finish.

The grapes - generally harvested in October - are sourced from vineyards situated in Pacs del Penedès, close to Vilafranca, at 225 metres of altitude: 29 ha of unirrigated Cabernet Sauvignon on deep, yellowish grey-brown alluvial soils that are well drained and have a moderate water holding capacity. Made up of interbedded layers of gravel, sand and clay. The yield is 4,593 Kg/ha. and the grape clusters are selected manually.

Red Blend from Conca de Barberà, Spain

A beautifully deep brooding red with a wild and savoury, almost leathery nose, the fruits perfumed with juniper and cistus; its olfactory complexity broadens to encompass suggestions of coffee, liquorice, black cherry jam, mint and orange peel with flecks of red fruits and savoury spices. On the palate the wine is very rich, fat, dry but supple with excellent intensity. Full-flavoured with cassis, chocolate, peppery, black raspberry, minty, black cherry, meaty vanilla flavours with a dried fig and orange peel finish. But – despite such powerful attributes - the key to this wine is its mid-palate elegance and balance. Delicious and packed with style it has the grace and balance to age for a decade and beyond. Torres Grans Muralles takes its name from the walls that protected the monastery at Poblet during the Mercenary Wars. The unmistakeable identity of Grans Muralles is due to the stony, slate ground (Licorella) of the region, and to grape varieties believed to be extinct, such as Garró and Querol, all re-interpreted according to modern viticultural techniques. Together with Cariñena and Monastrell they lend a unique spirit to this wine. The grapes are sourced from the estates of Poblet, Conca de Barberà, at an elevation of 445-470 metres a.s.l. This is a land characterized by deep rocky soils with layered deposits of Paleozoic slate and granite gravel beds. This ensures swift drainage and low water retaining capacity. The mineral-rich soils and limited water supply contribute to the production of wines that display great individuality, concentration and exceptional quality. The yield is approximately 4,000-5,000 kg/ha.

Pazo Das Bruxas Albariño 2022

Albariño from Galicia, Spain

Brilliant pale gold colour. This white wine is focused and graceful, fresh and clean on the nose, featuring an alluring purity that unfolds with peach, tarragon, sea breeze and mineral notes. On the palate, it is silky and savoury with fine floral (lime blossom) and fruit (lemon marmalade) notes.

Appellation of Origin Rías Baixas is found in the Spanish region of Galicia and is divided into five sub-areas: O Rosal, Condado de Tea, Soutomaior, Val do Salnes and Ribeira do Ulloa. “Pazo das Bruxas” is mostly produced with grapes from the O’Rosal area, in combination with grapes from Salnés. The soil is sandy with great water drainage and granite rocks in the structure which prevent water retention. The Salnés area is colder than O’Rosal, which leads to slightly slower ripening and wines that are more acidic.

Priorat Salmos 2017

Full, even, purple-hued, dark ruby-red colour. Torres Priorat Salmos' nose is softly full and voluminous with extraordinary fruit expression (cassis, wild blackberry jam) and exquisite dried fruit notes (figs), entwined with complexing nuances of earth and nutty oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate is broad, silky and mouth-filling with very fine ripe tannins that provide presence and fullness and soft acidity that contributes roundness and richness. Savoury berry, mulberry and plum fruit feature prominently with an underlying power which leads to a long, soft, nuanced finish.

The grapes are sourced from the estates of El Lloar, Torroja, Bellmunt and Porrera. Salmos is born in a beautiful remote land. The vineyards are planted on slopes of shale (“licorella” stone) that drain swiftly and have low water retaining capacity. It is precisely such soils, located on steep slopes, which give Priorat wines their typical characteristics. The area undergoes extreme changes in temperature between day and night and these natural occurrences add to the wine’s appeal. Salmos is a tribute to the Carthusian monks who planted the first grapevines in the Priorat. The wine holds the mysterious legacy of ancient times and wise men.

Purgatori 2020

Red Blend from Catalonia, Spain

Dark cherry red with impressively intense fruit pigment. Torres Purgatori has a delicious ripe forest fruit aroma (blueberries) with fine smoky (roasted coffee) and dried fruit (dried plums) notes. Exquisitely elegant with very fine fragrant tannins. Persistent, intense and potent, yet subtle too.

After the harvest, maceration, which lasts about 10-15 days is performed. Vinification takes place in stainless steel and custom-built concrete vats, ranging from 50 to 100 hectolitres. Torres intends using concrete more and more because it has been shown to refines the wines, especially powerful wines with quite intense tannin, leaving them rounder and silkier. The alcoholic fermentation lasts 7-10 days at a temperature of 22°C.

The vineyards are situated in the proximity of Juneda, Les Garrigues, a village in the province of Lleida, Catalonia, at an elevation of 350-600 metres a.s.l. The soil is very deep, well drained and moderately fine-textured with lots of silt. No stones or gravel on its surface, which is dark yellowish grey-brown in color. The deeper levels are low in organic matter and very high in calcium carbonate. The yield is approximately 4,000 kg/ha.
