Lara Semillon

Pork, Shellfish, Poultry, Lean fish, Goat's Milk Cheese

Our Semillon hails from the Glenwood farm, renowned for their Semillon grape terroir in Franschhoek.

The wine was allowed to undergo malo-lactic fermentation and was kept on its fine lees for 8 months. We decided not to age this batch in 3rd fill wood barrels, but rather in our stainless steel 1000L barrel tanks, with a special mix of ceramic & fire toasted premium French oak.

We played with a bit of whole bunch pressing and keeping the wine as long as possible on its fine yeast lees, creating a big concentrated wine with a fantastic mouthfeel.

There might not be a hammer-yielding god luring in the wings, but the inspiration behind this brand is fuelled by a thundering desire to make wine with character and personality. As you join us on this vinous journey, you too will find the strength of this mythical figure channelled through the courage of one humble, family man. We invite you to step into the world of Thor Vintners, a winery nestled in the heart of the Swartland. Here we focus on small-batch artisanal wines inspired by ultra-premium Rhône blends, only bringing it home to this unique corner of the world. Our vision is to specialize in Swartland grapes and where the selection and vinification thereof are intended to become rare and iconic blends.
