Terre Paisible
Terre Paisible means peaceful land and the estate is home to the Vigne d’Or – the ‘golden’ vines - both Chardonnay and Sauvignon that create our exceptional estate wines. Terre Paisible’s wines are made by Adam Mason who brings over 20 years of knowledge and experience in European and South African winemaking. Adam was the perfect choice to realise Terre Paisible's winemaking vision. His reputation and expertise extend not only to the outstanding Sauvignon Blanc – for which he was known during his time at Klein Constantia – but also to Chardonnay which he is equally passionate about. The estate has a rare block of Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc. These low-yielding 35-year-old un-trellised vines are hand harvested and made with minimal intervention. This gives a subtle wine of exceptional purity which displays old vine characteristics. The estate also has younger vines which are made into its classic Franschhoek style Sauvignon Blanc - Vigne D’Or. The estate is also home to Chardonnay vines. These feature in both the opulent Blanc de Blanc Méthode Cap Classique - as well as the rich, vibrant, elegant Vigne d’Or Chardonnay. Recently we released Terre Paisible ‘Isabelle’ Rosé, in honour of the estate's owners. This special wine is a blend of 60% Grenache Noir and 40 % Mourvèdre sourced from dryland vineyards in Stellenbosch. Pale salmon in colour is a delicate and elegant take on a Provençal rose.
Description
The wine presents a dark, brooding appearance. It opens with opulent aromas of dried cherries, tobacco, cocoa bean, and cured leather. The palate is rich and ripely styled, with fine-grained tannins providing a generous mouthfeel and a long-lasting, flavorful finish.
Food Pairing
This robust red blend pairs excellently with rich meats such as grilled lamb or venison, as well as hearty stews.
