Sutherland Vineyards is situated just 9 kms off the Atlantic Ocean with altitudes of 140 to 250 meters above sea level. The cool maritime climate allows for slower ripening than in other Cape Wineland areas producing wines with vibrant concentrated fruit flavours and an elegant minerality. All Sutherland wines are bottled and produced at the estate in Stellenbosch.
Description
The 2023 vintage of Sutherland Syrah presents a harmonious blend of ripe blackberries and plums, complemented by touches of violet, black pepper, and smoky cedar on the nose. On the palate, it offers a full-bodied experience with inviting aromas of blackberries, plums, and savoury spice, leading to a great texture and a long, juicy finish.
Food Pairing
This Syrah pairs excellently with grilled lamb chops, wild mushroom risotto, or hearty beef stews. Its robust structure and savoury notes also make it a suitable companion for game dishes and aged cheeses.
