Sadie Family Wines
The Sadie Family strives for wines that are fresh flavorsome refined harmonious and balanced and aims to offer drinking pleasure at the highest level of quality at any stage of a wine's life: the wine-drinker's eagerness for a further glass is their measure of achievement! The Sadie's two wines Columella and Palladius originate in the soils in the Swartland region which stretches north of Cape Town between Durbanville and Piketberg inland from the Atlantic Ocean and centered on the town of Malmesbury. Importantly the area has a remarkably stable climate allowing a consistent level of quality each year in subtly different vintage conditions.
Description
In 2020 we decided to reduce the percentage of whole cluster bunches in the fermentation to 50% on the Pofadder as well. As is the case with the Soldaat, the massive pick-up of potassium and pH climb were just not beneficial to the wine in the long run. When tasting this 2020 Pofadder we decided that it is easily one of the best we have ever bottled and the overall equilibrium is on another level altogether. The wine has immense purity of fruit and brightness, but the layering of the tannins in the texture and the overall balance have reached new heights. This vineyard is now in another dimension altogether.
Food Pairing
It works quite well in pairings with rich foods like stews, braised and roasted meat dishes, all types of beef, lamb, goat, beef, duck, chicken and pork.
