Village Pinot Noir

The grapes were hand-picked early in the morning, kept in cold storage overnight, and then subjected to cold maceration for several days. Fermentation occurred spontaneously in open-top fermenters, with punch-downs by hand. The wine was then aged in older French oak barrels and large wooden vats for around 10 months, which added complexity while preserving the fruit-forward character​.

The grapes are sourced from younger vineyards located in the Elgin Valley, a cool-climate region known for producing elegant Pinot Noir. The vines are planted in Bokkeveld shale soils, which provide excellent drainage and allow the vines to express their natural acidity. The vineyards are at an altitude of 280 to 400 meters, benefiting from a significant diurnal range, which helps to preserve the freshness of the fruit​.
