There is a haunting, poetic quality about this wine - knowing it is the first and last time this Riesling will be produced. The wine is incredibly impactful, arresting your senses with an amplitude of aromas. A medium lemon colour is a preview of its intensity with confidence that follows suit. Enjoy its aromatic medley of cling peach, baby apricot and ripe quince with mandarin, adding a bitter citrus aroma with a touch of Neroli. Secondary notes add broader strokes of honeycomb, nougat, almonds and cinnamon and a sweet candy note of mango and pineapple. Tasting the wine, a savoury lift of dried oregano and orange pith adds an old-world elegance with a mouth-filling character of a marmalade and lemon buttercream engulfing your palate - a vivid display of what it promised on the nose but with an elevated seam of freshness. Albeit of dry, a lively acidity brightens the palate and weaves freshness into the concentration of the wine with an earthy, almost salted caramel richness balancing the minerality. The wine has phenomenal staying power, youthful with excellent ageing potential to unlock more character.

Orpheus & The Raven

“The answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe and Everything is 42” – Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. In their search for answers to the great questions of life, Orpheus and the Raven’s eyes were opened by the light of the present. But the curious pair knew that beyond the light, the universe had more to offer. “True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing, Orpheus,” said the Raven. “Then the answer to the ultimate question is obviously 42!” replied Orpheus in delight.
