Orpheus & The Raven
“The answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe and Everything is 42” – Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. In their search for answers to the great questions of life, Orpheus and the Raven’s eyes were opened by the light of the present. But the curious pair knew that beyond the light, the universe had more to offer. “True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing, Orpheus,” said the Raven. “Then the answer to the ultimate question is obviously 42!” replied Orpheus in delight.
Description
The Eye of the Tiger 2021 is made from 48-year-old certified old vines, Wine of Origin Cape Town. Albeit youthful, a richer lemon colour denotes the depth old vines brings to a wine, bright with flashes of yellow gold. There is a silence to the wine, whispering and not shouting plush aromas. The wine is guarded in its youth, sharing only gentle nuances of bruised orange peel, lemon, white pepper, pear, acacia and frangipani. The same tension presents on the palate with a taut medley of green plum, apple and quince, and even a supple hint of saffron. At its core, the wine is still to bud into a broader style as nuances like honeysuckle, lanolin, marmalade, and beeswax will add more tertiary characteristics with bottle age. As for structure, the elegance of the wine is poised on a foundation created by its commanding lemony acidity adding length and enormous longevity.
Food Pairing
Pair with rich fish or cream-based chicken entrées.
