Marianne Wine Estate

This Viognier comes from the smallest and coolest block of the Marianne farm, with an annual production of 600 to 1000 bottles per year. Whole-bunch pressing allows us to get the best juice, which is then fermented and aged for 10 months in acacia and oak French barrels on the gross lees. The nose is complex, showing aromas of clementine, pineapple and white peach, with hints of white flowers and flintiness. The palate is full and creamy, with a fresh acidity.

The grapes were handpicked at phenolic ripeness and stored at 10°C. The bunches were hand sorted before being pressed, maintaining a temperature of 10°C. The juice was fermented and matured for 11 months in French oak and acacia barrels to allow complexity to develop. During fermentation and ageing, the lees were regularly stirred up in order to protect the delicate fruit and floral aromas and to improve the mouthfeel of the wine.

Marianne Wine Estate is nestled at the foothills of the Simonsberg mountain, in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands. This boutique winery of 26ha of vines produces a wide range of premium wines : rosé, white and red with a beautiful aging potential. The property was purchased in 2004 by French businessman Christian Dauriac, already owner of 3 Châteaux in St Emilion and Pomerol (Bordeaux right-bank). Our wines are the perfect reflection of what we are : a blend of French Savoir-faire and South African terroir.
