Kanonkop
The name Kanonkop was derived from a kopje (hillock) from which a cannon was fired in the 17th Century to alert farmers in outlying areas that sailing ships plying the waters between Europe and the Far East had entered Table Bay for a stopover at Cape Town.
Description
The 2022 Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend exhibits a bright deep ruby red color. The nose reveals aromas of cassis, raspberries, cherries, black plums, cinnamon, allspice, and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, it is lively and fresh, with succulent summer berry flavors supported by a firm yet silky tannin structure. Savoury notes persist on the lengthy finish.

This wine pairs well with pizza, pasta, barbecued meat, roast chicken, beef or lamb burgers, and beef stew.
