Kanonkop
The name Kanonkop was derived from a kopje (hillock) from which a cannon was fired in the 17th Century to alert farmers in outlying areas that sailing ships plying the waters between Europe and the Far East had entered Table Bay for a stopover at Cape Town.
Description
This wine exhibits a deep garnet color. The nose is complex, featuring aromas of cedar wood, cigar box, cassis, pencil shavings, bay leaf, and a hint of paprika. The palate is intense, with layers of blackcurrant, black cherry, red plums, walnuts, baking spices, and creamy vanilla intertwined with cedar wood. It offers a broad mid-palate, balanced acidity, silky tannins, and a long, satisfying finish.
